New Mexico Trip

Two Eagle River School student photographers traveled to New Mexico in fall 2019 to share customs with local indigenous people in several pueblo communities and to practice and learn more about the art of photography. Students met with community elders, curators and photographers, and they shared their work and, of course, made photographs.

We are grateful to Ernst Corriz, elder and member of the Santa Domingo Pueblo, who shared the culture, science and history of the area. To Kate Ware, Curator of Photography at the New Mexico Museum of Art, and to the administration and staff of the Institute of American Indian Arts, the Santa Fe Indian School and the Lannan Foundation. Each supported and shared much with our students during their visit.

New Mexico Trip student photographers are Heather Atwin, Lee Atwin, Frankie Barnaby,

Alexi Beavers, Michael Bolen, Joshua Crumley, Kris Hernandez, Moses Hernandez, Omar Media, Brittany Morigeau, Katrina Morigeau, Eneasa Pierre, Anthony Wise Spirit, and Leighton Wise Spirit.
